So whose fault is it?

What is it about people that just makes them refuse to accept any responsibility for their actions? It really frustrates me sometimes. We had a warrant the other day that was your typical dope house. The owner would let some of his buddies set up shop and sling crack all day and night.

Once word get out that a place is selling, foot and vehicle traffic to and from the house increase until the neighbor notice. Normal people start to get concerned about dope addicts walking through their yards and the police begin to get tips. That's where we come in. There is nothing remarkable about it except that this was the third freaking time we had raided this person's house within the last few months.

Our previous raids caused the resident to get evicted each time. Each time they moved to a new place and the cycle started up again. I was getting a little irritated about it because the judge kept letting this fool out on bond and he would start selling dope again to pay for his lawyer. You would think that sooner or later he would stay in jail.

On this particular warrant I was responsible for maintaining control of the prisoners while the rest of the team searched the residence. I don't normally talk crap to the prisoners while I guard them because it just makes my job harder if they are agitated. However in this case I got real sick of the suspect and his friends whining about how the police were harassing them and the neighbors only complained because they were so racist. I got sick of that crap fast.

Me: What the heck are you talking about? You are selling crack. I have personally raided you multiple times and we always find guns and dope there. You are a criminal. That's why we are standing here again.

Suspect: Man why are you always raiding me? Why not go mess with someone else? I know its because the neighbors don't want a black family living here. That's wrong man.

Me: Ummm no. It's because our informants have bought dope from you multiple times and crack addicts are all up and down this street since you moved in.

Suspect: Yeah BLACK crack addicts and that just bothers the racists around here.

Me: You know, you are a complete waste of air buddy. I guess I will be back here next week so we can do this all again. Next time you should just send me a change of address card when you move so I can streamline the process.

Suspect: Man why don't you go arrest someone else?

Me: I like to stick with what I know.

Incredible.

Tell him to set up shop in the neighborhoods where the judges live. I'll bet that when it's in their backyard they'll take a little more notice.

Sounds JUST like a few neighborhood houses in MY part of Ft. Wayne...LOL!

When are they ALL gonna wise the hell UP and realize it's NOT about RACE.
It's about BEING A FRIGGING CRIMINAL, for God's sake.

You don't want to see the PD there all the damn time?
...DON'T BE A THUGGIE, GANGSTA, GUN-TOTING DRUG DEALER.
SO simple a cavema...well, you get the idea.

Good post.

the judge kept letting this fool out on bond and he would start selling dope again to pay for his lawyer.Well, he's a dope dealer. It's what he does for a living. How would you pay for your lawyer if the judge wouldn't let you out on bail?

What this fool doesn't realize is that you're a cop, and in order for you to do your job, feed your bulldog and keep your woman in high heels, you have to bust his dope-dealing a** from time to time. See? You'd think he'd just accept this and get on with the whole procedure with a minimum amount of whining, but clearly he's one of those uncooperative dope dealers.

In these tough economic times I would think all of you would want to streamline the process somewhat, so that you could get the maximum number of arrests per month. My suggestion would be for the dope dealer to tell you where and when he's going to set up shop, and you could schedule the bust at your convenience so as to spend your time and the tax payer's dollars more efficiently. This would also cut back on the number of crack addicts you'd need wandering around the neighborhood before the bust, and the number of calls and tips you have to record. I think if everyone worked at it, you could get a real 'revolving door' kind of scenario going. Clearly the judge is doing his part already, yes?

Brother you have the same pet peeves that I do, I keep busting the same damn idiot's time after time, the Judge gives them their own recognizance, they're back on the street less than 24 hours later. What really fries me though is when I pop somebody for a DUI and 2 days later I do it again, same person, same condition. The guy blew .23 on Monday, and last night I nabbed him again, and this time it was .29. I have been in front of 3 different Judges, showed them the reports, the BAC from the hospital on one occassion and they let this peckerwood out again.
This time I have come up with a plan, when Mr. X is stopped by me again, and I guarantee it's going to happen as I know his routine better than he doe's, I'm not charging him on the spot. I'm putting him in custody for suspicion of DUI, getting a BAC, and let him sit in holding for 72 hours before formally charging him, that way he'll sober up, have time to think about what he's been doing, the car will rack up $300.00 in impound charges, and he'll have to come up with a damn good reason (excuse) to his drinking buddies why he's missed opening bell the past 4 days. The automatic licence suspension for 24 hours has no effect on him, HE WILL NOT accept responsibility for his actions, and in fact tells the Judges how he suffers from Fetal Alchohol Syndrome, and plays their sympathy.
Keep up the good fight Bro, don't let these idiot's get you down, don't fall for the racial stereotyping crap that's thrown at you, and VEST UP!!!

Tell him it's just that the more black crack dealers you arrest it just puts you and the wife closer to that new toaster oven at the end of the year since there is a black crack dealer quota. For God's sake it's not because you're black (or hispanic, or green or blue for that matter), it's because you're an idiot. I wish they would put a better lifeguard in the gene pool, myself.
