Seriously? It's come to this in the UK? Perhaps if there were stiff penalties and the threat of an armed homeowner, police wouldn't have to embarass themselves like this.

That was always "effective"...the perp started laughing his ass off, and was caught.
I'm not in that cop's area (thank god, I was squirming just watching it over on IG's blog) and so far our local force hasn't tried this.
Probably just as well - there are a lot of shift workers round here who'd take exception to being woken up and told to lock their doors.
It makes me ashamed, really it does. It's getting harder to love this country every day.

city's budget - Not so lucky.
