I'm presuming the music in the cars is so loud they can't hear it themselves? Otherwise it would surely drive them nuts as well?
Most likely illegal in the UK (here's hoping) but if any of the kids in my street fit one, I know where that slightly soggy cucumber in the fridge is going!
I live in Oakland and I used to hear these all the time -- made me NUTS because you could hear them a mile away in the middle of the night. I'm so happy that it was a passing fad.
I realize that the Oakland PD has more pressing things to worry about, but I do wish they'd do some heavy crackdown on cell phone drivers.
My commute is 2 miles each way (and I would walk except I'd have to walk through a really bad neighborhood and the bus is equally as dangerous) and I must see 2-3 people yakking on cell phones while they are driving every day. And 2 out of the 3 are usually driving like idjits.
This newscast is from the summer of 04 the city of Oakland banned them shortly after this aired.
This never gets old. I love it. i've even been known to call my husband Bubb Rubb. Whoo whoooooo!

WTF! i cant believe the end of that vid, and the fact they air'd that crazy $%^& peeling out, almost hitting a parked car, then running a stop sign and almost hitting another car....worthless people
