Grow a pair already
I went to a call of a person sleeping on the front porch of a house. The call read that there had been several break-ins in that area and the caller didn't think the sleeper belonged there. I figured a concerned neighbor was looking out for his neighborhood and decided to call 911.
I showed up and there was some homeless female conked out on a bench within the fenced front porch of residence. I woke her up and asked if she lived there. She said that she didn't and that she thought it looked like a good place to take a quick nap. WTF? How can it seem like a good idea to go up into the front porch of a strange house and catch a nap? The nerve of something like that just pisses me off.
I about to cuff her up for trespassing when the front door opened up and a man came out. Turns out that he was the homeowner and the one who called. The female was maybe 5ft5 and 150lb and this guy was at least 6ft1 185lb.
I don't know about you but if I ever looked out and saw someone sleeping on my porch, the first thing I'd do is come outside and toss them over the side. Instead, this guy hid inside and called 911. He only came out after he peeked through the curtains and saw that I was there. I guess they raised men differently in his family.
The kicker is that as I was about to put her under arrest, the homeowner said, "Oh I don't want her arrested officer. I just would like her to leave."
*sigh* So you are worried about break-ins in your area but you don't want me to take this homeless moron away? I guess it is okay if I chase her off and she just goes and breaks into a house a few streets over.
Why did this guy even call the police and waste my time?

12 bits of radio chatter:
Doesn't matter how big you are, you can still get cut bad - especially by a schizo with a warped sense of reality.
How can a homeowner these days make a fair assessment about how crazy (or not) or armed someone sleeping on his porch is gonna be.
Mortal danger aside, civil liability can cut the biggest guys down at the knees. Criminal trespass has never stopped judges from awarding cash to folks who get hurt by homeowners.
I'm not saying that your assessment of the guy is right or wrong, but there's a ton of reasons why he might want to make that 911 call.
"Why did this guy even call the police and waste my time?"
...because police spokesmen in the media keep saying things like "It worked out OK this time, but we don't recommend that citizens take the law into their own hands--That is what the police are here for".
Telling someone to get off your porch is taking the law into their own hands?
I agree, the homeowner should grow a sack and thrown her off the porch.
It is a liability issue.
I don't think telling someone to get of your porch is taking the law into your own hands, I'm pretty sure that most police don't think so either.
The spokesmen on the other hand seem to think nearly everything is.
Welcome to my world, JL. Betcha forgot the headaches that accompany patrol, huh?
I don't know if I'm too down with giving this guy a hard time. If I looked out on my porch in the middle of the night and saw a sleeping woman, my first thought would be that she probably has a male companion somewhere nearby.
Not only that, the chances of having someone come back and vandalize your home, or worse, are lower if they get run off by the police, as opposed to having a homeowner charge out and physically throw them into the street.
You are right-grow a pair but be prepared for other hassles. Once escorted a drunk off my mother's property. The police got involved. They were ok with my actions but some asshat ADA decided I used "excess force". Took a few weeks and a lawyer to resolve. Even so, I would do it again.
I'm afraid this big ole' cornfed boy woulda called you up too.
Ideally, I'd love to chuck the skank out in the yard like a lawn dart and see if it was damp enough for her to stick.
In reality, even a gentle hand assisting Her Grace off of my porch could turn into assault charges and end up with an ambulance chaser sodomizing my homeowner's insurance.
I've got a CCW license, and I take full responsibility for my personal safety. But, my preferred tactic is to turn tail and run and let you professionals deal with the goblins. You're (usually) better equipped, better trained and have the legal protection of the state.
I have to agree with call the professionals. Yeah I could go out and yell get the $@#^@ off my porch. I just don't know if said homeless person has a gun, knife, is doped up on PCP and could kick my #$%@#. Not to mention the liability if i fight.
And Johny of course you would go out and confront them. You are a professional.
i dont think its a question of his manhood...he just seems like a lazy sob
